Buffy is a graduate with a BA in Anthropology. She studied archaeology and historic preservation at Washington College. She is working on several GIS projects involving community planning, and also updating the existing GIS of historic properties for Kent County.
Marian Y. Robbins '08

Marian Robbins graduated in May with a BA in Anthropology and minors in both Math and English. Her thesis used GIS to show the affect of shoreline recession on archaeological sites in Dorchester County, MD. Marian's GIS internship project entails the creation of Intro and Intermediate GIS curriculum for the Dover Area High School in Dover, PA. In the fall Marian will be attending Western Kentucky University where she will pursue a Masters degree in Public Folklore and graduate certificate in GIS.
Brendan Blee '09

Brendan Blee is a senior at Washington College, pursuing a major in Environmental Studies. He found that using GIS is not only fun but may help him in his future career. He is currently working on GIS curriculum development for high school students and 3D modeling for the Saint Michel’s development project. Brendan is both a member of the Japanese Club and Outdoor Adventure Club.

Nichole Bryant is a senior majoring in Business Management. She is also a Resident Area Director, a Career Ambassador, and Class Treasurer of the senior class. This summer she is working on further developing the introductory course curriculum for high schools.
Debby Cooper '09

Debby Cooper is a history major and sociology minor at Washington College. She is currently working on the crime mapping project for the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention at the GIS Lab. In the fall she will be working on the Chestertown Historical Geography Project. She is also the President and forwards captain of WAC Women’s Rugby.
Sam Evans '09

Sam Evans is a senior, double majoring in Computer Science and Mathematics. He is working as a Crime Mapping Associate on the grant received from the Governor's Office of Crime Control and Prevention. His other projects include 3D visualization, web mapping, and whatever else gets sent his way.

Jessica Smith is a Biology and Psychology major. She is currently the treasurer for Psi Chi, a member of BBB, and a member of Service Council. This is her first year in the GIS program. She is working as a crime mapping intern this summer and plans to return in the fall.

Kisato Takenaka is currently a Junior at Washington College, majoring in Environmental Studies and minoring in Art. She came from a small town, Tsubata, in Ishikawa Prefecture in Japan. She likes to be outdoors, enjoying fishing, boating, kayaking, biking, etc. As a GIS intern, she makes maps for Worton Water and Waste management. She currently holds the position of secretary in the Japanese Club.

Andrew is currently a Junior at Washington College, where he is working towards a Computer Science Major and two minors in Math and Information Sciences. He is currently working on a project involving 3D visualization and implementing it in programs such as Google Sketchup and ArcScene. In addition to the GIS lab, he works for the Office of Information Technologies at the HelpDesk.

Alketa Tanushi is a sophomore Business Management and Economics major and a Mathematics minor. At WC she is involved with the IRC and OIP (International Student Mentor), Spanish Club member, Portuguese Club member, LFC coordinator and SIFE. She helped with the preparations for the GIS summer camp 2008 and attended the GIS workshops.

Matthew Barger is embarking on his first interest in Geospatial Technology with this summer internship. He is working on making 3D Models for the St. Michaels Visualization & Analysis Project which is helping a small town to visualize the effects of adding a 300 home housing development. He plans on taking this experience to his future college career.

Kevin Kitlinski is a new graduate from Dover Area High School, where he learned the trade of GIS from a course created by Washington College’s Stewart Bruce. After excelling, he was offered an internship here at Washington College. He is currently tackling the St. Michaels Visualization & Analysis Project.
Nathan King
GIS Intern Counselor
Nathan King was a camp counselor this year. He is a graduate of California University of Pennsylvania in 2008 with a Bachelors of Arts in Geography. Concentration in Emergency Management and GIS. Past member of CalU GIS Club, CalU Meteorology Club, CalU Billiards Club, URISA -Chapter 12 (a GIS chapter south of Pittsburgh)and IAEM (an emergency management chapter south of Pittsburgh). During his time at camp, he also assisted with collecting data on the Worton Water and Sewer Project during the GIS Camp.
